Welcome To SBA’s “Wildlife Wednesday” #1
I just wanted to introduce myself for this first blog. My name is Levi Wittrock. Being a small business with only 3 “employees” (myself and the two founders: Chip and Renee), I often wear many hats, including and outside of my “Director of Business Development” job title. Some days I do marketing, other days I do I.T, but I know that every day, I am guaranteed to focus on one main goal: CUSTOMER SERVICE! Not only does customer service “fit the job description”, but it also fits my passion. I love hunting and fishing, no doubt, but I also love helping people. When someone is having a problem that I can fix, it brings me immense happiness to help.
As was aforementioned, I love hunting and fishing. Whether it be chasing jumbo perch in Angler’s Bay on Big Spirit Lake, chasing weed edge largemouth in Miller’s Bay on West Okoboji, or even grabbing bait and a beer the night before a trip down at Oak Hill Outdoor in Milford: if my line is tight then my smile is too!
But, even with my passion, love, and competing in fishing, there is always a something in my ear calling. Calling me back to the fields. To the marshes. To the Greenhead ducks and Whitetail bucks. To HUNTING! Whether it being busting ice to hunt cold front mallards or watching Canada geese “maple-leaf” into the decoys, waterfowl hunting has my heart.
Now, do not get me wrong: I LOVE ALL KINDS OF HUNTING! Chasing big bucks in Guthrie County, Iowa is what I grew up doing, and I certainly still love it. After all, venison is one of the healthiest, most delicious, Keto friendly, organic food sources we have access too. When a cackling rooster explodes out of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources managed wetland area here in Dickinson County, both my Black Labrador Retriever, Tate, and I get excited.
Although, and if he could talk then he would agree, when it comes down to the brass tacks, waterfowl wins. Every. Single. Time. There is just something about the smell of the marsh, the whistle of the wings 20 minutes before shooting time, and the great stories shared between friends and strangers alike that drives what I do. It makes scouting twice a day, driving thousands of miles, and getting up in the middle of the night, all worth it.
When the bacon is sizzling, the blind is quiet, and the anticipation is high, that is where you will find me. At peace. In my happy place. Just where God himself intended.
Sincerely,
Levi Wittrock
